The secret to getting good grades

The secret to getting good grades in school is actually much simpler and easier than you may realize. There are three main cognitive styles to learning. You probably know students in school that struggle and try extremely hard yet still get bad grades. They just seem doomed to failure in school. On the other end of the spectrum you also probably know of students who get straight A's and B's and they barely study or even try.
The reason for this is cognitive styles of learning. The students who get terrible grades despite struggling do not use their cognitive style for learning. The students who get great grades without really trying use the proper cognitive style of learning for them, although they are probably not conscious or aware of this.
Here are the three cognitive styles for learning and the key to getting good grades: visual, auditory, kinesthetic.
  1. Visual: people who are visual learners learn best by seeing things more than hearing them or feeling them. This type of person for example will learn much more quickly by looking at a diagram that explains something as opposed to listening to an audio tape teaching the same subject.
  2. Auditory: auditory learners learn best by hearing thing. In auditory learner will learn most rapidly by listening to a tape or paying attention to the teacher and listening to what they have to say. The auditory learner will tend to struggle studying textbooks. The auditory learner would learn most rapidly if they brought a tape recorder to school and taped what the teacher had to say listening to the tape recording later at home.
  3. Kinesthetic: Kinesthetic people are very much in tune to their feelings both emotionally and physically. Can aesthetic people tend to be the creative types: the artists, the musicians. If you are a kinesthetic when you describe an event you would do so bringing up your feelings and sensations during the event. Generally speaking Kinesthetics are low-key, quiet, and introverted people who tend to enjoy time alone. Crowds can be overwhelming for them. Kinesthetics usually have the hardest time in school. Since most teaching that is done in school is done through visual or auditory means. Either you read a book or look at something the teacher has written on the chalkboard, visual, or are you listened to what the teacher says. If you are a kinesthetic learner neither of these methods is ideal for you to learn.

No matter which of these three cognitive styles you are the secret to getting good grades in college OR high school is the same and that is learned using your correct cognitive style.
